Spirit Day

October 17th is also Spirit Day a day in which LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) youth are celebrated and accepted for who they are. Spirit Day was started in 2010 by a  high school student as a response to the young people who had taken their own lives.

Although this is more associated in America, it would be great to see this more in Irish schools, where students and teachers wear purple (purple symbolizes spirit on the rainbow flag) to show support of LGBT youth.
