International Day for the Eradication of Poverty

Day of Poverty

Today, October 17th, is designated to promote awareness of the need to eradicate poverty and destitution in all countries, particularly in third world and developing countries. At the Millennium Summit world leaders committ to cutting  the number of people living in extreme poverty, by half by the year 2015.
